Events

Three main events are sponsored by GSPA each year.

  • The fall conference, held in mid-September, offers more than 60 training sessions for newspaper/newsmagazine, yearbook, literary magazine and broadcast staffs. Special sessions are also held for advisers. Sessions are led by journalism professionals and educators. 
  • The GSPA Awards Ceremony, held in late April, serves as a celebration of scholastic journalism in the state as more than 100 awards are distributed for individual competitions, general excellence and special achievements. In addition, a high profile keynote speaker headlines the lunch banquet.
  • Each summer, GSPA hosts the Georgia Journalism Academy, a weeklong, residential summer camp for high school students. Held in early June, roughly 75 students produce a newspaper, blog and TV news program guided by the camp's teachers.
